Greg had loaned me his old wing as he is now the Ozone Dealer. I was borrowing it with an option to buy at $1400. It was a little strong when I arrived at the hill with Kate and Annette about 6:30pm. Andrew was already in the air on his Alpina. I went down the front a little as it was strong and Annette came to the edge to help and take a photo. Larry and Mark Mitsos were on the top helping some people with speed-wings doing some ground handling.
The wing wound around and I had some trouble wrestling it under control and called Annette down to help me lay it out again. Unfortunately I didn't take enough care sorting out the lines again and when I got the wing up the brakes were wrapped and by the time I had re-grabbed them I was just off the ground. Andrew was at the top and called out and I looked up to see a huge cravat in the right side of the wing. It was impossible to get out although I tried repeatedly as I slowly headed to the beach. Despite the cravat the wing flew pretty straight when I leant slightly to the left and the landing and control was no trouble.
I hitched back up and took more time ensuring everything was right for a second take off about 7:15pm. It was overcast and there was some mizzle just after I took off. there were a few hang gliders in the air and one other Paraglider and Andrew had a go on Mitsies Little Cloud speed-wing. The wing seemed to handle fine and after about 20 minutes and a lot of big-ears I was back down and landed on the South landing.
