This was the first task of the Canungra Cup.
It was a simple task of basically 3 points, A 2km radius start cylinder around launch, a smaller cylinder on Misery and a speed section to Rathdownie (2km radius) and the finish within a 1km radius.
Getting set up we had a few teething problems with equipment. Iwas the nedt one to launch in the initial open launch window when they closed that window. This was lucky as my entered waypoints had not been saved. We all had a long wait till our designated launch. I was 75th off or thereabouts. I finally launched at 11:49 followed by Greg at 11:53 and Andrew at 11:58.
My flight lasted less than 3 minutes.
Here is a shot Kate snapped of me launching.
I never gained height and eventually tried to squeeze between these 2 trees.
I clipped a branch on the right and fell in a heap next to the tree.
This shows my track log on the comp site. I didn't even leave the start cylinder.
This shows the whole course for Task 1
Here is Greg. He had quite a successful flight getting beyond misery, the next appoint before landing about 11 km into the 40 km task, flying for just under an hour.
Andrew had a great launch but also failed to find lift.
His flight was 14 minutes and he landed next to the "bomb-out" field.
He ended the day on equal points despite getting just outside the start cylinder.
