The hanger was not far out of alignment but the cage needed quite a bit of bending to get it parallel and running smoothly in the garage. I also removed a link (2 sections) out of the chain:



The photo shows the chain running from the largest front ring (54) crossed to the largest rear (34) and although it is tight it seemed okay.

Unfortunately when we went for a ride it jammed and would not change smoothly.
